Come along and Tap for BBC Children in Need
Join us at Shirehall, St Peters Square, Hereford HR1 2HX. 11.30am to 1.30pm ~ £10 including T-Shirt (which must be worn for the event). This will be the 6th attempt to break the world record for the most amount of tap dancers performing the same dance at the same time as well as raising funds for the BBC's Children In Need Charity. The event is held all over the country in major cities and dance schools through-out the UK and brings together thousands of tap dancing enthusiasts of all ages and levels. The current world record still stands at 7,596 persons, we hope this year we will be able to smash it and raise lots of money for charity at the same time.
This year we will be dancing for 8 minutes and 55 seconds to 'Uptown Funk' by Bruno Mars. There is also a simplified routine so anyone can join in. If you don't have any tap shoes we have plenty we can lend you, size and availability permitting. Total Tap Workshop
Tap Attack are holding a Total Tap Workshop at South Gloucestershire and Stroud College, Bristol. 1.30pm to 4pm Cost £26, Adults 15 and over, Youth age 9 to 14. Levels: Youth must be grade 3 or above split into two groups, Adults two levels: Adult Group 1 - Intermediate 3 to 5 years training or Grade 5 to Advanced 1, medium pace good technical skills needed. Legendary Hoofer Will Gaines
Whether he was clicking his quicksilver heels to slinky jazz swing or twitchy improv, the hoofer Will Gaines took the view that he was "just trying to dance the melody". Gaines, who has died aged 86, was not only an extraordinary dancer, but also one of a rare breed of open-minded listeners who could hear melody and rhythm in everything from bebop to Bach to abstract electronica, and he looked and sounded as if he was having the time of his life playing with all of it. Featbeat dance into the History Books on the
BBC's 'The ONE Show
Tracy and Shirley Dawson from Featbeat Dance in Hereford joined Matt Baker from the BBC One Show and 497 other tap dancers, to re-create Roy Castle’s record breaking 1977 ’Mass Doughnut Tap Dance at the BBC Television Centre in London’. Read the full story here....
